Welcome to the Materials-DNA Laboratory

The Materials-DNA (Materials Deformation and Nanoscale Anisotropic) Laboratory at IIT Ropar focuses on advanced research in structural materials by linking microstructure, processing, and mechanical properties. A key area is High Entropy Alloys (HEAs), where the lab studies phase stability, crystallography, and mechanical performance. The lab also works on additive manufacturing of metals, analyzing solidification, phase transformations, and behavior in extreme environments. Thermomechanical processing is another focus, involving optimization of deformation parameters to enhance strength and ductility. Additionally, the lab contributes to sustainable materials science through the recycling of metals and improving their properties for reuse. Research also emphasizes mechanical behavior under extreme conditions such as high temperature and stress. Advanced characterization techniques, including electron microscopy, are used to study deformation mechanisms. Overall, the lab integrates materials design, processing, and characterization to develop high-performance materials for industrial applications.
